dead ceo is a distributor of a wide variety of music (free improvisation, contemporary composition, laptop minimalism, etc.), focusing on hard-to-find cds, cdrs, vinyl, and print by Chicago area artists and labels. Although many of the artists featured on this site are recognized internationally, their recordings can be difficult to find. The catalog combines an interesting selection of regular commercial releases as well as many projects handmade by the artists, which cannot be found anywhere else. They are all offered at cheap, cheap prices!

dead ceo is also a small label with a limited number of releases. The most recent release is the Service Anxiety Persistent Inversion of Solution by Protective Powers 7inch record (dceo 004). Other releases include Zaum (dceo 001) and Winter Construction (dceo 003), two compilations comparing and contrasting artists in a wide variety of genres in specific locales. Ian Epps' incredible playful electronic cd Audiophone (dceo 002) is also available.

The dead ceo site does get updated from time to time. A few records from Italy's Music 'a la Coque label have just been added and are fantastic.
